This is the second in spin off/consecutive series that runs alongside the authors fantastic ( and one of my all time favourites) The Veredian Chronicles.

To fully enjoy this book and have a full understanding of the multi layered story arc within this book you need to read the first in series Anton’s Grace.

I would and do HIGHLY recommend reading, the complete Veredian Chronicles too! This book is a fantastic continuance of an already mind blowingly great series…that is not to be missed.

Featuring the feisty and fearless Guldan/Veredian hybrid, Ravena Mercy Vrok, daughter to the most nefarious Guldan slave master, Garruk Vrok and the ultimate in Veredian healers Maheva, Mercy embarks on self tasked mission to right the wrongs committed by her father and brother.

Starting by dismantling her brothers base on Braxia and then on rescue her Veredian sisters. But to gain access to Braxia, Mercy will need support from a Braxian and to keep her hybrid nature secret… the rarest of Veredian hybrids and a woman to boot cannot just swan into Braxia. A planet that is so male orientated and dominated, where hybrids are viewed in the lowest regard, where honour is everything and where women are property and have little or no rights.

The Braxian ruler Magnar Ravik Xeldar.. is fighting an uphill battle to leave the archaic ways of the Braxian people behind, at every turn he faces obstacles ( with a divided council and underhanded deals ) and progress is slow. The planet is at the end of its limits and to prosper they must open their minds and learn to adapt to change.

Recognising each other spiritually from the moment they meet, what follows is a story of revenge, duty, compromise, internal and external wars and forgiveness of the most traumatic hurts. This book, like all of Regine Abel’s novels it is heavy with plot, immense world building and character development. With truly kick ass heroines that take no prisoner and wonderfully protective, duty bound, gruffest of the gruff Marshmallow men, that ( bless their hearts) want to coddle and protect those aforementioned women… I freaking adored this book! It’s an epic read of Stella proportions!

I adored Mercy when we met her in past books and Ravik was all I dreamed he would be following on from his introduction in Anton’s Grace. ( goes without saying he’s been added to Bubbles The Book Pimps Reverse Harem of book boyfriends ) It was a highly anticipated read for me and did not disappoint.

I’m blown away each time I read a book by Regine Abel…the emotional connection, the chemistry, the depth of the characters and the most wonderful of wordsmithing, that each time leaves me ugly crying and left with the happiest of book hangerovers experienced. This author features highly to me as the ultimate in Unicorn Authors, each of her books hits all my SFR loving boxes. Her unique and original stories leave me begging for more. I cannot wait to see the following stories that will follow in the wake of Ravik’s Mercy.
